Chobe riverfront, in Botswana, is famous for its elephants and abundance of wildlife. Its close proximity to Victoria Falls makes it an ideal place to go for a day trip, with an early morning pickup and evening drop off back at your accommodation. The day is split into a game drive in Chobe National Park and a game cruise on the Chobe River.
Undoubtedly one of Africa’s most beautiful rivers, the Chobe (a tributary of the Zambezi) supports a huge diversity and concentration of wildlife. Established in 1968, the National Park covers approximately 11,700 sq kms, encompassing floodplains, swamps and woodland. The Chobe River forms its northern boundary. There are four distinct geographical areas in the park and the Chobe Riverfront is the most accessible and prime safari area, offering a wealth of wildlife experiences (don't forget your camera!).
Its proximity to Victoria Falls makes it the top safari viewing option in the area and a day trip into the park is very rewarding way to quickly 'do Chobe'. A combination of a 3 hour game cruise and a 3 hour game drive will give you a cross section of fantastic sighting opportunities from antelope, zebra, elephant, buffalo and hippo, as well as frequent sighting of big cats, lion and leopard especially. Together with fantastic birdlife and endless photographic opportunities, Chobe is not to be missed.
For those with more time to stop and enjoy the wonders of Chobe's wildlife we recommend at least a couple of nights in one of the superb safari lodges in the area - see our sister site Discover Chobe for more information.
VISAS - You will need to request a double entry visa for Zimbabwe on your initial entry so as to cover a second entry after your Chobe Day Trip. Note - if you only have a single entry visa for Zimbabwe you will need to purchase another visa on returning from your safari. Most nationalities do not need visa for Botswana but we recommend you check before making a booking on your visa status.
Extended one, two or three night safari options in Chobe National Park are also available, together with various safari lodges and tailor-made options - contact use for more information.
